The Class Teachers at St Brigid’s implement the NSW Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum in all KLAs, providing explicit teaching and learning experiences which develop positive values and attitudes towards the use and study of each subject.
The Learning Support Teacher (LST) will assist in the assessment of students’ literacy and numeracy levels and will support the classroom teacher so that opportunities for curriculum differentiation are implemented to ensure all students have access to the curriculum, and that individual literacy and numeracy needs are being met. He/she will also assist with the development of special programs for students with disabilities, when required.
The Clinical Psychologist provides support with academic and social assessments. Recommendations are made to assist parents and teachers to cater for the ongoing needs of the students.
The Learning Support Assistant, where allocated, will assist the class teacher within the classroom context or on a one-to-one or small group basis, following programs devised by the class teacher and/or LST.
The English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) Teacher ensure identified students are provided with appropriate support to develop their English language and literacy skills to enable them to fully participate in schooling and achieve equitable educational outcomes.
The Teacher Librarian will support the teachers through provision of programs of work to complement what is being taught in the classroom and by providing further opportunities to develop information literacy skills.
The Library Assistant will assist in the development of literacy by assisting in the retrieval of resources and assisting students to locate suitably levelled books.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Education Teacher focuses on supporting students and school communities in the areas of curriculum, culture, spirituality, learning and wellbeing. By liaising with the Aboriginal and Tores Strait Islander community and promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives within the school, the role aims to improve educational outcomes and support educational pathways, both within and beyond the school setting.
The Pastoral Care Worker (PCW) plays a crucial role in supporting the emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing of students, staff, and the broader school community. The role aligns with the Catholic faith and values, fostering a caring and nurturing environment. Some of the key responsibilities of a PCW include emotional and social support, wellbeing programs, conflict resolution, collaboration with students and parents as well as crisis support in times of loss or traumantic event.
The Pedigogical Mentor (PM) supports classroom teachers with the continuing growth of their teaching practice. The role is aimed to mentor teachers with the development and delivery of teaching and learning experiences, particulary in relation to the School Improvement Plan goal. As new syllabus documents are introduced, the PM also guides and supports classrorom teachers when implementing new syllabus content and requirements.
The Gifted Education Mentor (GEM) supports staff in identifyinf high-potential and gifted students, assists with programming for their needs, provides students in the CSO's Virtual Academy program, and creates whole-school opportunities for all students to reach their full potential in a variety of curriculum areas.
Parent and Community volunteers are encouraged to assist classroom teachers during the day in activities such as reading groups in the English teaching session, Art activities, Science activities and so on. Learning goals in English and Mathematics are communicated with parents and activities are provided to assist with practise of the skills at home.
